What challenges do patients with acute myeloid leukemia in complete remission face?

Norbert Vey

March 31, 2021

During the 47th Annual Meeting of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT), Know AML spoke to Norbert Vey, Institut Paoli-Calmettes, Marseille, FR. We asked, What are some of the challenges faced by patients with acute myeloid leukemia in complete remission? Complete remission is achieved after initial chemotherapy when patients have no clinical signs of the disease, normal blood cell counts, and less than 5% leukemic blasts in their bone marrow. In this video, Vey discusses three relapse prevention methods: post-remission consolidation therapy, allogeneic transplantation, and maintenance treatment.
