Zinaida Perić
April 13, 2022
During the virtual 48th Annual Meeting of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) Know AML was pleased to speak with Zinaida Perić University of Zagreb, Zagreb, HR. We asked, How can diet support a good transplant outcome?
Perić highlights that, despite a lack of clear guidelines, nutrition can have a significant impact on the outcomes of patients posttransplant. Perić goes on to outline existing sources for nutritional advice, varying levels of evidence for different diets and disease areas, and discusses the addition of fiber, vegetables, and fruits as well as the important role of micronutrients, like vitamin D, for patients with GvHD. Finally, Perić explains the current interest in gut microbiome diversity as a target for GvHD prevention and treatment.
