AML World Awareness Day

On April 21, 2024, Know AML is running a campaign focusing on supporting caregivers of someone with acute myeloid leukemia. Our objectives for this year’s campaign are to raise awareness of acute myeloid leukemia and educate people on:

  • the impact of caring for a loved one with acute myeloid leukemia can have on a caregiver’s well-being;
  • understanding the importance of supporting caregivers to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness;
  • the importance of self-care for caregivers; and
  • where caregivers can go for further information, support, and practical advice.

You can get involved by following these four easy steps:

Step 1: Choose your format

Choose a format to share your experience; this can include words, pictures, videos, or podcasts.

Step 2: Plan

Consider answers to the following questions:

  • What impact does being a caregiver have on your well-being?
  • How do you take care of yourself both physically and emotionally and how does this benefit you?
  • Where did you go for further information, support, and practical advice and what would you suggest for a new caregiver?

Step 3: Create

  • Words: Using the template from our resources page, describe your experience.
  • Pictures: Select the photos you would like to send.
  • Video: Record a video of yourself (please make sure you are in a quiet space, have good lighting, and your hand isn’t covering the microphone).
  • Podcast: Record your voice or audio with your phone (please make sure your hand isn’t covering the microphone).

Step 4: Share

Once you have carried out the above, share your experience on social media using the official hashtag #KnowAML, or share it with the Know AML team at SES_KnowAML@scientificeducationsupport.com. Please note all social media platforms have different formats for posting. They have different character and video length limits.

If you're not a caregiver or are short on time, you can still show your support, by sharing our Acute Myeloid Leukemia World Awareness Day 2024 graphics and resources on social media using the hashtag #KnowAML.

Please complete our short surveys before and after Acute Myeloid Leukemia World Awareness Day to help us measure the effectiveness of our campaign.

Help us raise awareness of acute myeloid leukemia! Remember, sharing your experience is powerful and could encourage someone to reach out for the support they need.

Thank you for your continued support.
